"...Know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32)
I’m Jon Mitchell, minister of the church of Christ in Duncan, South Carolina, and I’m here to tell you the truth. But what is truth? That’s what Pontius Pilate asked Jesus, and it’s a good question. How do we know we’ve heard the truth when we hear a sermon from the pulpit or on TV or on the radio? Does it matter what the truth is? Can we ever really know for sure?
Yes, we can know the truth when we hear it, because Jesus said in John 17:17 that God's Word is truth. Whenever we hear a preacher preach or read a tract or a religious book, we can know whether we’re encountering truth if we compare what they say to God’s Word. After all, Psalm 119:160 says, “The sum of your word is truth.” Do you want to know the truth? Grab your Bible and visit a church of Christ near you next Sunday.
